descriptionThe Wrap-Up: Euro Premiere at BUTFF

October 1st, 2009 · No Comments

Just a quick note about how spectacular of a time we had at the European premiere of ALTAMONT NOW at the International B-Movie Underground Trash Film Festival in Holland.

Really, this is an amazing festival and anyone who is interested in this type of filmmaking should consider checking it out. What makes it so great? Well besides all the crazy cool films playing… this year films like Modern Love is Automatic, Sex Galaxy, Blood on the Highway, Saila, Hora, lots from Toe Tag and many more…

And the insane live performances (shout out to Aesthetic Meat Front for freaking out a bunch of horror and trash film directors).

It’s the very unique communal spirit. Everybody– from fans to performers to directors– eats, drinks, watches movies and just generally hangs out together in this random yet excellent formerly-industrial space. Totally unpretentious and fun. We met lots of great people.

And this year the hanging out included special guest of the festival John Waters! It was a dream come true, for realz. He is hilarious, brilliant and super down-to-earth.

Here’s a photo with John Waters.

Me n John

Thinking we kind of look alike, my pal Irene slightly altered it.

Me n John, Photoshop-style

Yeah.

More news soon including our DVD/digital download release (it’s about time!)

descriptionBroken Pencil review!

Hey all you Canadians (and Canada-lovers)!

Pick up Issue #43 of esteemed magazine BROKEN PENCIL (Canada’s only “magazine of ‘zine culture and the independent arts,” founded by our Canadian pal Hal N.) for a nice little review of ALTAMONT NOW. Yeah, it’s on page 7:

“The cover for this DVD advertises ’self-indulgent pirate tv broadcasts,’ ‘painfully lame interpersonal arguments,’ ‘angsty whining about The Man,’ and ‘the completely unnecessary use of firearms,’ and boy, does ALTAMONT NOW deliver all that and more”!

It goes on (nicely!) from there, pick up this awesome magazine to read the rest!

We are so thrilled to announce that ALTAMONT NOW will be screening at the 12th annual Revelation Perth International Film Festival in Perth, Australia!

Revelation Perth logo

This festival is astoundingly fantastic, a really innovative lineup of both underground and more mainstream films. The programmer Jack Sargeant has a truly unique way of looking at what a cutting-edge film festival should be, and we are flattered to be a part of it. Especially when we are screening along with supercool films that we have been wanting to see, like Winnebago Man and We are Wizards.

ALTAMONT NOW will screen Saturday July 11th at 10:45 PM at The Astor Cinema. Tell all your friends in Western Australia to come on down and please join us.

More details including ticket information soon!

PS– the description of our film in the festival guide is awesome. “The greatest movie about untamed youth revolt since The Riot On Sunset Strip“? If an underground film could blush…
