ABOUT THE FILM

“Imagine the 60s, Woodstock, the tumult of politics, war, culture, love; the revolution, the relevance. Now fast-forward thirty years and three thousand miles to an underground missile silo in the middle of the California desert; the revolution is still going… and it’s not really going anywhere.

Straight Outta Big Rock

It’s the 30th anniversary of the infamously disastrous Rolling Stones concert at Altamont, and ‘The Call’ to the youth of America has been sounded… on the Big Rock Springs Public Access Channel.

Travis Transmission
Chronicling indie rock legend Richard Havoc and his cadre of angry, misguided revolutionaries, seemingly-square journalist Mark Clark finds himself deep inside the Cult of The Kids headquarters (and 15 stories below ground). Mostly at gunpoint.

Alex Urban just might shoot Mark Clark

And entirely subjected to an endless, ridiculous diatribe against ‘The Man,’ ‘The System,’ and all other requisite ‘enemies of the revolution.’

Richard Havoc
This satirical ‘Gimme Shelter’-style rocksploitation charts the five-strong revolution’s course through self-indulgence, absurd White Panther angst, and the kind of wince-inducing, ironic posturing that’s perhaps a little too true to life than some would like to admit.

Karen and Alex go online with the pirate uplink

When Clark’s secret identity is revealed, however, the true threat of the Indie Rockopalypse becomes ever more nigh, putting the lives of the revolutionaries, and half the country, at stake.

Hey man, chill out.

Will the Power of Rock save, or destroy? With a rollicking anthemic soundtrack and a seriously unnecessary amount of guns, ALTAMONT NOW places an outdated revolution in the hands of today’s entitled, self-obsessed youth; hilarity ensues as egos and mantras clash in a beautiful triumph of the swill.

The Power of Rock

Just remember: you can’t have a revolution without some snacks.” — Boston Underground Film Festival

Karen, Whoa Again.

Note from Joshua von Brown, director:

Lies! Lies! All Lies!!! The Boston Underground Film Festival’s description of ALTAMONT NOW is utterly false. Their attempt to “laugh off” what befell Richard Havoc and The Cult of The Kids only gives more weight to the commonly-held theory that those in power have suppressed information concerning The Incident at Big Rock Springs. Ask anybody in the indie rock world about The Incident. They will tell you what time it is.

Revolution?
